Skipping these steps for the sake of speed is how you force the public to absorb the mistakes of private industry cost-cutting. It's not up to us to have to adapt to the industry just because they can't be bothered to follow these checks and approvals.

The proposed changes do not aim to simplify the Endangered Species Act but to diminish protections for Species at Risk. The weakening of protections for species at risk is resoundingly apparent in the change of the definition of habitat. Read more

Please do not pass these new changes! We need to be using more caution and giving more space to endangered creatures, not less. We need to be upping the efforts to make it harder for people to be allowed to hurt or disturb in any way the animals that are endangered. Read more

I oppose Bill 5, I believe Ontario needs strong environmental protections and that progress and development can’t come at the expense of wildlife and our green spaces. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones and creating shortcuts for industry with no public oversight. Read more
