It was hard to read through the proposed changes and believe that they have any benefit to Ontario's endangered and at-risk species. It is clear that this government's only concern is making it as easy as possible for the private sector to go ahead with any project without oversight. Read more

I strongly oppose Bill 5. We are in a global biodiversity crisis, with over 230 plants and animals at risk in Ontario. The healthy forests, waters and wetlands that species at risk rely on sustain all Ontarians. Read more

Yes we need new homes, yes we need jobs and yes our economy isn't the strongest right now. Ruining the Canadian environment and ecosystems is NOT the answer. There has to be a balance between clearing land, protecting land and re-planting trees. Read more

I DO NOT SUPPORT changing the endangered species act. This would be a step BACKWARDS! We have finally started to see species come back from the brink and now you want to eliminate the very protections that have allowed this? Read more

The proposed changes to, and subsequent repealing of, the Endangered Species Act (ESA) will be absolutely detrimental to the environment. This is again Doug Ford putting development first at the expense of the environment. Read more

I am very dissatisfied with the proposed Bill 5. This is not taking into account the ecological systems of our natural spaces, and prioritizing economic gain. It is clear that the Ford governing body is neglecting environmental needs for species at risk due to convenience. Read more

I strongly oppose the proposed interim changes and eventual repeal of Ontario’s Endangered Species Act (ESA) as outlined in Bill 5, the “Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025.” These changes will significantly weaken protections for Ontario’s most vulnerable wildlife and habitats. Please do not pass Bill 5! Repealing the endangered species act is a mistake that will cost us our environment dearly. I will grow up seeing the loss of ecosystems and species, and you will be to blame. Read more

I am against this proposal. The endangered species act should not be removed, and endangered species protections should not be weakened in any way. There is NO good reason that any development should be exempted from environmental oversight, especially where endangered species are concerned. Read more

You do not have the right to gut the Endangered Species Act. Ontarians expect their government to act responsibly, based on rigorous science, and to protect species that are at risk in the province. Read more

This is a horrendous bill that will do immeasurable harm to our environment, our communities, and our economy. To bring such a reductionist approach is short-sighted and incredibly violent towards a variety of plants and animals that deserve to not live and live well. Read more

I strongly disagree with the passing of this bill. It is an attack on the environmental rights of all Ontarians past and present that have fought for the protection of our unique biodiversity. Read more
