I am very disturbed by these changes. It will put endangered species at risk as developers will take advantage and destroy habitat without any consideration. There must be other ways to speed up the process without putting endangered species and habitats at risk. Read more

I fail to see how gutting legal protections for endangered species will somehow aid in their survival. Stripping away oversight and allowing developers to proceed on a “register first, comply later” basis places enormous trust in profit-driven entities—trust that is neither earned nor warranted. This proposal threatens to end provincial legal habitat protection for endangered and threatened birds and only protect “dwelling places” or nests. Endangered birds depend on the protection of their entire habitat to survive, not just where they nest. Read more

This bill is tremendously dangerous and has the potential to destroy ecosystems. Without consultation with experts, you are giving developers and construction firms the green light to bypass environmental safeguards just to get something done ASAP -damn the consequences. Read more

I do not agree to the proposed interim changes to the Endangered Species Act, 2007. We should not be included government discretion on classifying species that are extirpated, endangered or threatened. Read more

I am registering my strong disapproval of the proposed amendments to the Ontario Endangered Species Act. I believe our environment should be protected and under the proposed changes species that are already at risk will disappear. These changes give the government far too much carte blanche power.
