I support the proposed regulatory change under Schedule 7 of Bill 17 that would allow small variations (within 10%) to zoning setbacks to be permitted “as-of-right” for urban residential lands outside the Greenbelt. Read more

Set-backs reflect years of planning knowledge and respect neighbourly relationships. They also provide room for utilities and access to the back yard without trespass. Why have set-backs if their can be varied as a right. Read more

Thank you for allowing me to review the proposed changes. I am a municipal planner with 25 years dealing directly with consents and variances. I'm not too sure if the proposed would in fact speed up the processes. Most variances for development are greater than 10% setbacks. Read more

I object to this sort of thing because it essentially renders existing zoning as meaningless. Zoning in Ottawa here is totally out of control (when was the last time the province saw our Official Plan after several omnibus changes the city calls clarifications). Read more

I am not supportive of this proposal. In higher density neighbourhoods - mine is R3 - density is already increasing fast. Every older single home sold in the past 8 years has been demolished and large bedroom count semi-detached homes with secondary units built. Read more
