I do not believe that amalgamating conservation authorities will improve the services they provide. The territory each would cover is too large to properly manage local issues in a timely and efficient manner and will take away input from communities that fund them. Read more

The proposal to consolidate Ontario’s 36 conservation authorities into 7 regional authorities is hasty and extremely ill-conceived. The new consolidated regional authorities will be much too large to remain responsive and effective. Read more

I believe merging various conservation authorities is a great idea and long overdue. Conservation Authorities for the most part have long since over lived their usefulness and are simply another government bureaucracy which we can largely live without. Read more

The Conservation Authorities and their watershed-based planning is one of Ontario's best ideas ever. You have only to see the flooding consequences in Texas, of Gatinau, Abbotsford BC or Alberta to see what happens for lack of Conservation Authorities. Read more

Bill 68 will weaken local decision-making, funding, and hands-on protection of our watersheds. Right now, NPCA would be folded into a huge Western Lake Ontario authority instead of staying focused on our local needs. Read more
