I am very much against this proposal; based on amalgamations that have occurred with other organizations (e.g. schools, communities, hospitals). I am afraid that not only will local control and insights be lost, but the administrative costs often increase overall. Read more

As a resident of Thunder Bay, I am OPPOSED to the Province’s proposed amalgamation of the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority (LRCA) with six other Southern Ontario Conservation Authorities to form the “Huron-Superior Regional Conservation Authority”. Read more

Leave it alone, it’s working fine. Fine tune the existing if necessary. This provincial government is once again over-reaching and meddling in Municipal affairs. There’s more pressing issues for them to address than this. Read more

I believe that it is important to keep conservation authorities separate. Local governance is important as these employees of these conservation authorities have specialized knowledge of their specific area. this is likely to be lost in translation moving to an amalgamated system.

I strenuously disagree with the merger of the conservation authorities. Their effectiveness has already been decimated by Ford's anti-environment/top down control on their mandates as well as funding decreases. Read more

respectfully, this is a terrible idea. this will not speed up housing building, and in fact could ruin any builds if built in flood prone areas, plus tarnish conservation efforts that have been made over the course of decades. I do not support this.

Consolidating the Conservation Authorities would be a mistake. It is unclear what problem the provincial government is trying to solve in doing this. The existing conservation authorities work well. Leave them alone.

Like all other proposals and legislation by this provincial government, amalgamation of the conservation authorities is ludicrous. The separate conservation authorities were not mandated to work under a small group. Each of these areas across this beautiful province are unique. Read more
