Approval was granted for a site plan amendment to allow OCL Custom Crushing and Quarrying Ltd. to increase the number of tonnes of aggregate to be removed annually for Licence No. 600421, operating in the City of Greater Sudbury, District of Sudbury.

File was transferred to the County of Frontenac following the approval of the County’s Official Plan in October 2016. The Ministry was the approval authority at the time that the proposal notice was posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario. The Ministry is no longer the approval authority and will not issue a decision.

Approval was granted for a licence amendment to allow Dufferin Aggregates, operating in the County of Brant to increase the number of tonnes of aggregate to be removed annually for Licence No. 5601, from 997,700 to 2,000,000.

A new Closure Plan Amendment will be submitted by the proponent for this site. The updated CPA will replace the version in this ERO posting.

Approval was granted for a licence amendment to allow G. Tackaberry and Sons Construction Company Limited to amend the current licence to increase the annual tonnage limit in the Township of Athens

A new Sewage Works Environmental Compliance Approval (ECA) was granted to Nigel James Charles Begg for the installation of a sewage disposal system to service an existing dwelling located at 1053 Shallow Bay Road, on Lot 14, Blocks 29 and 31 of Shallow Bay Properties Cooperative Corporation in the Town of Gravenhurst, Ontario.

Bill 46, Less Red Tape, Stronger Ontario Act, 2023, received royal assent on March 22, 2023.  The act amends the Oil, Gas and Salt Resources Act to remove the prohibition on carbon storage.  This change represents a first step towards enabling geologic carbon storage in the province of Ontario.

Ontario Regulation 161/17 and Ontario Regulation 239/13 were amended to allow short-term bridges, geotechnical investigations, and mobile wind testing and environmental monitoring equipment on public lands provided conditions are followed, including location registration. In addition, the definition of “shore lands” was amended.

The updated Statement of Environmental Values (SEV) of the Ministry of Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation has been adopted.

A new regulation was made to address transition rules related to the restoration of municipal planning authority resulting from changes made to the Planning Act by the Green Energy Repeal Act, 2018.

A decision was made on January 27, 2025, to approve with modifications, Toronto Official Plan Amendment 692, as adopted by By-law 1162-2023. The approved Official Plan Amendment 692 proposes one site specific employment conversion and Site and Area Specific Policy.

We have amended Ontario’s Blue Box Regulation (O. Reg. 391/21) under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. These changes are designed to maintain existing recycling services while addressing rising system costs and providing producers with greater flexibility and regulatory certainty.

We have completed the 5-year review of the Guide. Changes to the Guide include alignment with updated standards/criteria and regulations, as well as a revised assessment methodology. The updated Guide will apply to new projects.

A Place to Grow: Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe 2019 came into effect on May 16, 2019 replacing the Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, 2017. Modifications to O. Reg. 311/06 support the implementation of the plan by providing transitional treatment for certain planning matters currently in process.
