The Province of Ontario has passed Bill 212 which introduces the Reducing Gridlock, Saving You Time Act, 2024. This new Act provides a consistent approach to the oversight of the installation of bike lanes, where a lane of traffic is removed.
On April 1, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 251/22. The purpose of the Order is to protect environmentally sensitive lands, including provincially significant wetlands, in the Town of Georgina.
On May 12, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed an amendment to the Zoning Order, Ontario Regulation (O. Reg.) 698/20, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 90/23.
We are proposing to extend the expiry date for Environmental Assessment Act approvals by 10 years for certain projects once the relevant amendments to the Act come into effect. This extension will allow the projects to proceed (subject to any other permits and approvals required) instead of requiring a new environmental assessment to be completed.

On March 24, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed an amendment to the Zoning Order O. Reg. 771/21, made pursuant to clause 47(8) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 54/23.
We have exempted the Bradford Bypass project from duplicative requirements of the EAA by way of a regulation. The regulation sets conditions for the assessment process going forward and for continued environmental protection and consultations. No other Ministry of Transportation projects have been exempted from the EAA as part of this regulation.
On March 4, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act with the Registrar of Regulations as O. Reg. 159/22 to permit industrial, commercial and park uses on the subject lands. The City of Kingston requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
On October 22, 2020, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to section 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O.
