The Minister has issued a permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 to the Regional Municipality of York for bridge construction activities that may adversely impact Redside Dace. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, and monitoring and reporting requirements.
We are moving forward with regulatory changes to make it easier for proponents to apply for a permit to take water when a previous permit has been cancelled, revoked, or expired within the past year in limited circumstances. These changes will give applicants more flexibility while maintaining oversight.

Bill 4, The Cap and Trade Cancellation Act, 2018, received Royal Assent on October 31, 2018. This act repeals the Climate Change Mitigation and Low-carbon Economy Act, 2016, and provides for various matters related to the wind down of the cap and trade program.

A new Environmental Compliance Approval was issued to Galibier Materials Inc. for approval of the establishment of works for the collection, transmission, treatment and reuse of up to 9,464 litres/minute of wash water from aggregate washing operations located at the existing Galibier Lewis Pit located in the Springwater Township, County of Simcoe.
The Endangered Species Act, 2007 was amended as part of the More Homes, More Choice Act, 2019 to better enable positive outcomes for species at risk while streamlining processes.
This decision is for a new Permit to Take Water for Gatling Exploration Inc. for mining, quarrying and gas extraction purposes. Water will be taken from 18 water courses and 12 lakes.
