Permit to Take Water No. 7757-DMMPVZ was issued to Ivari on October 24, 2025. Water will be taken from two wells in Waterloo, Ontario for groundwater remediation purposes.

The Ministry has decided to amend O. Reg. 45/11 to set out the conditions that are required for mining claimholders to sell the end product of a bulk sample and recover associated costs, without first obtaining the Minister’s permission: a “permit by rule” approach. This will allow previous amendments to the Mining Act to come into force. 

An Environmental Compliance Approval was issued to Scaletta Group Ltd. for a waste processing facility in Belleville, Ontario. The approval will allow the company to modify existing waste processing and storage activities and allow for the processing of alternative low carbon fuels.

The proposal to amend the Niagara Escarpment Plan policies respecting Significant Woodlands was withdrawn by the Niagara Escarpment Commission.

Approval is granted to amend the existing Environmental Compliance Approval (waste disposal site) No. A181008 for construction and operations of a new Leachate Treatment System (LTS).

We have created a new regulation under the Safe Drinking Water Act to better protect sources of drinking water.

The Minister has issued an overall benefit permit to North Pickering Community Management Inc. for construction activities in Pickering, Ontario which will impact Redside Dace and its habitat. The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, as well as monitoring and reporting requirements.

A decision was made on June 5, 2019 to approve, with modifications, Official Plan Amendment 405 to the City of Toronto’s Official Plan, as adopted by By-law 1284-2018. Notice of this decision was issued on June 5, 2019.

The amendment has been returned for refiling.

The minister has issued an overall benefit permit to Eden Oak (Trailshead) Inc. for residential development which will impact Butternut, a species at risk tree. The permit includes actions to benefit the species, minimize adverse effects, and outlines monitoring and reporting requirements.

We have updated the Director’s Directions: Minimum Requirements for Operational Plans for municipal residential drinking water systems. This update provides flexibility to organizations operating multiple connected municipal residential drinking water systems while maintaining environmental protection.

We are reviewing the Permit Guide to ensure it reflects the amendments to Ontario Regulation 63/09, under the Pesticides Act that came into effect in April 2020. A new policy proposal for the revised Guide will be published at a later date. Therefore, a decision has been made not to proceed with this proposal and this posting is considered closed.

We have decided to change the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority’s mandate to include digital reporting services through its registry for a wider range of waste and resource recovery programs. Combining these services will save businesses time and money as a larger group of users will share costs and benefit from a modern registry.

The Corporation proposal in relation to an overall benefit permit under clause 17(2)(c) of the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to kill six (6) Category 2 Butternut trees, and nine (9) Category 3 Butternut trees has been approved.

The Minister has issued a permit under the Endangered Species Act, 2007 (ESA) to the Kirkland Lake Gold Ltd. for pipeline construction activities that may adversely impact Caribou (boreal population). The permit includes actions to minimize adverse effects, actions to benefit the species, and monitoring and reporting requirements.

On January 9, 2017 the ministry proposed a Transitional Operating Agreement (TOA) between the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority, under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016. After considering input received, a decision was made to finalize the TOA.
