We are modernizing our environmental assessment (EA) program to better serve communities now and in the future. Comments received on the discussion paper have been and will continue to be considered when making decisions on EA modernization initiatives.
A decision was made to approve a site-specific amendment to remove certain lands in the City of Richmond Hill from the Parkway Belt West Plan (PBWP) and the associated Minister's Zoning Order (MZO), filed as Ontario Regulation 474/73.
The PBWP amendment is approved as Amendment No. 239 and the MZO amendment is filed as Ontario Regulation 226/22.
We are improving the processes associated with land claim settlement and other agreements with Indigenous communities about land by removing duplication between the Environmental Assessment Act requirements and the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs’ current policies and guidelines.
On February 14, 2020, Ontario Regulation 15/20 revoked Ontario Regulation 834/81 (Sudbury District Zoning Order). Revocation of the MZO will reduce regulatory burden imposed by the province and will lead to a more consistent approach of development control across northern Ontario for unincorporated areas that are not part of a planning board.
A decision was made to approve a site-specific amendment to remove certain lands in the Town of Oakville from the Parkway Belt West Plan (PBWP) and the associated Minister's Zoning Order (MZO), filed as Ontario Regulation 481/73.
The PBWP amendment is approved as Amendment No. 234 and the MZO amendment is filed as Ontario Regulation 457/24.

We are making changes to address duplication and overlap with the federal government’s requirements for toxic substances to reduce burden for facilities. Facilities with existing toxics reduction plans will no longer be required to review those plans. In addition, all facilities in Ontario will no longer have new planning or reporting required.

A decision was made to approve a site-specific amendment to the Minister's Zoning Order, filed as Ontario Regulation 102/72, to permit a single dwelling and accessory uses on a property in the City of Pickering to facilitate a future severance of the lands.
The approved amendment is filed as Ontario Regulation 514/21.

We are proposing a technical standard for mini mills industry to help ensure facilities that produce steel from scrap steel better control their air emissions and will align with similar standards and environmental practices of other provinces and countries, such as the United States.
On June 9, 2023, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation (O.Reg.) 126/23. The Ministry of Long-Term Care requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.
