On March 4, 2022, the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing filed a Zoning Order, made pursuant to clause 47(1)(a) of the Planning Act, with the Registrar of Regulations as Ontario Regulation 156/22. The City of Vaughan requested that the Minister consider making the Zoning Order.

We have decided to end the nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide emissions trading program by revoking O. Reg. 397/01 and O. Reg. 194/05 under the Environmental Protection Act. The Program is no longer an effective tool to address emissions of these contaminants from regulated sectors in its current form.

This ministry has approved site-specific standards for sulphur dioxide, nitrogen oxides and sulphuric acid for Ontario Power Generation’s Lennox Generating Station in Napanee, Ontario for a 10-year period.
As part of the redevelopment of Ontario Place, the Ministry of Infrastructure has completed the Category C Public Work Class Environmental Assessment (EA) Project for the future public spaces and parkland (the public realm). The Environmental Study Report (ESR) has been finalized and outlines the preferred design for the public realm at the site.

To further reduce regulatory burden for the waterpower sector while maintaining environmental protection, we have removed existing Permits to Take Water for waterpower facilities.
