This is a terrible idea! The government has not done its homework on this policy and has no idea how many people actually benefit from bike lanes! Bike lanes provide a good measure of safety and save lives. Ripping them out will be expensive (I understand this wasn’t even costed out) and will not provide the hoped-for consequences. An extra lane of traffic will be quickly filled, and gridlock will continue. Bike lanes allow people to get healthy exercise in a no-carbon-causing form. This bill is a clear attempt to buy votes from suburban voters who drive to work, when they should be taking public transit.
