As someone who drives a car to work, it is very scary to drive in the downtown area. Couriers on bikes feel they own the road - do not follow the rules of the road, come out of nowhere when making a right hand turn, squeeze between a truck and bus, no hand signals used, no proper equipment on the bike ie. reflective lights. When driving in the dark it is very hard to see a cyclist until they are right next to you. What are they wearing all black. Perhaps on the helmet there should be something that is reflective straight from the manufacturer. Perhaps a special bike for couriers to use. If an automobile driver does not follow rules of the road they are pulled over and fined. Needs to be something in place for couriers if they wish to share the road while using the bicycle - it is not a separate rule for cyclist-follow the rules . A bicycle is a mode of transportation if you wish to use operate the bicycle share the road follow the rules, stop weaving in and out of traffic - if there are bicycle lanes use them-or be prepared to be charged or confiscate the bike. Bicycle lanes especially in the downtown area please put some barriers (like you have turning from Parliament on to Bloor East). I was hit by a courier at Bay and Wellesley and I did have the right of way. The barriers are protection for the cyclist as well as the automobile driver. I would be happy to ride a bike but I have to be safe on that bike as well as a safety barrier. It is a privilege to use the road and share the road. Better rules have to come in effect- legislated for couriers or make them get a bike licence and hang the licence on the back of the bike. Please put bike lanes on Dundas east -accident waiting to happen in that area. Thank you
