I am very concerned about the threat from transient vessels to the environment and water quality in particular, on the Great Lakes and in particular along the eastern coastline of Georgian Bay.
Aside from the fact that transient vessels and floating barge cottages are not contributing to local taxation and will undoubtedly draw on various emergency services, the biggest issue is the environmental threat to water quality and other threats. It should be noted that my concern is not only related to floating barge cottages, but also to transient vessels located at mooring buoys and at single family seasonal residences. There are too many single family seasonal residences located in eastern Georgian Bay which have been taken over by a group of transient boater families and they are using these single family dwellings to reside and they in turn tend to over use the various facilities (i.e. septic systems). Our environment can not sustain this type of residential intensification.

My recommendation to you is to reduce a usage period over public lands from 21 days to 3 consecutive days and allow additional moorage at the same location only twice every 60 days.
We must do all we can to protect the Great Lakes environment for all the species who inhabit the area.
