I wholeheartedly disagree…

I wholeheartedly disagree with this proposal.

First, let me say, your Clarification of the the definition of camping unit on water, is not clear at all. Are you saying liveaboards and houseboats are or are not camping units? what about pontoon boats? what about a tent on a raft? please clarify.

Second, the proposal to prohibit camping on water within 300 meters of a developed shoreline has numerous issues.
1 Create unsafe boating conditions for boaters caught in a storm who would otherwise attempt to anchor near shore sheltered from weather and waves.
2 Create unsafe anchoring conditions, as boaters attempt to anchor farther from shore in deeper water/muddy sea beds/impeding navigation in narrow lakes and rivers.
3 Create unsafe anchoring conditions when boaters are forced to anchor where others typically fish or sea doo.
4 Create a system where the rich who own long stretches of shorelines may build a shed/dock/lighthouse to further limit boaters from anchoring near their mcmansions.

Furthermore, since your proposal states "Camping within 300 meters of shore would be allowed in front of vacant land", it's obvious that this rule is meant to appease the rich and not relevant to environmental concerns. As boaters we're forced to look at the aesthetically unappealing mcmansions, and now must hide our beautiful boats. Sounds like a caste system. And then when you throw in "doesn't apply to tourist rentals", I become a third class person.

Reducing the time allowable in one location to 7 days per calendar year is also unjust. Many of our lakes and rivers are limited in suitable anchoring spots to begin with, many boaters will not have access to more than 2 or 3 spots, extremely limiting their season.

Marinas have been full, overbooked, and overpriced since 2020. These rules will create economic hardships, unfair conditions, unsafe and impossible situations for many.

I sincerely hope you reconsider.
