The Oro-Moraine is under increasing attack but is as important as the Oakridge moraine to protect environmental health & the safety of drinking water for a significant portion of Central Ontario. It should be included in the new legislation.
1,000,000 more homes should be built "UP" within in existing urban centers & suburban boundaries and not "OUT" when this requires destruction of forests, farms and headwaters.
The need to protect the Oakridges Moraine including Paris/Galt area became a priority 25+ years ago when development pressures began to encroach on it from Toronto and Hamilton/London. The "Greenbelt" was supposed to have been the buffer between southern urban areas and farms & forests to the north. It was also intended to protect the headwaters that feed southern Ontario and a portion of Central Ontario. The same pressures are now encroaching on the Oro Moraine as Simcoe County absorbs a significant amount of the growth "out" from Toronto, York & Peel regions.
Include the Oro-Moraine in the legislation. Excluding it suggests it's less important to eco-systems and central Ontario headwaters than the Oak Ridge moraine, which just isn't true.
