Sidewalks and pedestrian crossings have become Wild West!!! Fast moving E-bikes, scooters etc. Have taken over sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. I used to cycle 80 Km a day, but gave up cycling, because it was very dangerous. I now walk 20 Km - 15 Km a day. It is NOT safe to walk in the City of Toronto. Every block I have to negotiate my way with 6 or more fast moving e-bikes, scooters which have taken over sidewalks and pedestrian crossings. I believe I could get hospitalized or killed almost every day !!! TPS told me that they gave 700 tickets to E-bikes in 2022, but TPS doesn’t know if anyone paid them!!! I could give 700 tickets every day!!!
We MUST license every e-bike, scooter etc. And they MUST carry an insurance!!! Look at the Swiss model of even bikes have a license plate. And the police must have power to confiscate e-bikes, scooters etc. How many people need to die before we reign in the Wild West e-bikes, scooters etc.
