I would like to comment on an article published in the Erin Advocate from Nov.15 about the moratorium on water permits. I agree that we should extend the moratorium to 2020. Lire davantage

I work in a school where I see many many half full water bottles. Such a waste when we have a water 5 fountains that work just fine. Reusable water bottle. Bottle water is a waste of water, lots of plastic be used and not recycled properly. We all know that not all the plastic is recycled. Lire davantage

Latest CBC information is that Nestle and Tim Hortons are the largest contributors to plastic waste. We recycle 11% and burn/bury the other 89%. Lire davantage

I disagree with licensing corporations to rape and pillage our water supply by taking our spring water virtually for free so that they can put it in plastic bottles that pollute our oceans and lands horrifically and make a 99% profit on the product. Lire davantage

Please extend the moratorium on bottled water permits. We have already seen some communities experiencing dire shortages of water during times of drought -- when bottling companies continued heedlessly to draw water from aquifers that were dangerously low. Lire davantage

I don't understand why we are still using bottled water. Municipalities spend tax dollars to provide us with clean drinking water. There is no need for any more plastics to be produced when there are affordable, reusable bottles from which we can drink our water. Lire davantage

To allow more corporations to take even more of our groundwater is morally wrong on two fronts. First, we as a society must stop the proliferation of single use plastics which are affecting our lakes and oceans. Lire davantage

I support extending the moratorium on water bottling permits in Ontario. Water bottling is a wasteful procedure. More water and energy are used in producing and recycling the bottles to contain water and transporting them to retail outlets. Lire davantage

No new permits to take water should be issued to commercial water taking companies in Ontario when the intended use of the water is single use packaged water. In addition, permits for increased pumping should not be renewed. Lire davantage

Water is a basic necessity of life and should not be allowed to be in the hands of corporations to be monetized by them. If our aquifers dry up who is left with the fallout? The public, that is who! Lire davantage

I don't think this 1yr moratorium goes far enough. At the least it should be permanent or better still, there should be a reduction in current water-taking limits for for-profit companies.

This moratorium should be permanent. For-profits should not be allowed to take our groundwater in the amounts they are and for the pathetic compensation they give. Leave our water alone.

Ontario needs to manage its water resources wisely, including its acquifers. To let Nestle abstract millions of liters of water every day - and from wells that are being claimed by local communities - is unwise and unfair. Lire davantage

It is extremely important the extension of the current moratorium to give the Ministry of Environment time to understand the water resources in the province with a particular focus on ground water takings for water bottling. Thanks.

Please STOP all Nestle water agreements in Ontario! We do not need plastic-bottled water, and this company has no concern about over-extraction of this valuable natural resource.

The taking of our water should not be allowed - it is only benefiting the big companies. I have lived in this area all of my life, and back a few years ago, there was no bottled water, and everyone survived. Lire davantage
