I object to this. The Ontario wilderness is used by many people who prefer to not damage it. The bears are not the danger, hiking and recreational activity near where near hunting takes place is! Ontario should not allow this change.

I am completely against this it’s simply shooting not hunting. As well I am against the spring bear hunt. It leaves so many little ones to die slowly

First of all, baiting is not hunting. If baits are allowed, they should be much further away from trails, not closer. Give the bears a break and let the “hunters” walk more. It will do them good.

I strongly object to this proposal!!! Are you serious in even considering this, reducing distance for setting bait for bears??!! So a lazy person can sit on a public trail and shoot away? Bringing bears closer to public who will be using trails! This must not go any further! Lire davantage

I very much object to the proposed changing of the minimum distance for the location of baiting for bear hunting from 200 metres to 20 metres off of recreational trails. Such a change greatly increases the likelihood of injury to humans and other creatures. Lire davantage

This is absolutely ridiculous. Trying to keep bears away from human interaction and you're putting bear baiting 30 meters from public roadways. What will you think of next, do you have any concern at all for the safety of the public!!! Lire davantage

Reducing the minimum distance for bear bait from 200 metres to 30 metres from rights of way for traffic and recreational trails significantly increases the possibility of a very dangerous situation: a non-hunting recreational user accidentally alarming a mother bear with cubs, or any other bear too, Lire davantage

This is not hunting. This is nothing more than mass slaughter. It is the equivalent of the cattle yards and slaughter houses. This is not sport or culling and weapons of that nature should never, ever be permitted. Animals today, humans tomorrow. Lire davantage

I am pleading with this government to STOP the spring bear hunt. We see so many orphaned cubs as a result of the spring bear hunt. There is not enough enforcement to keep hunters obeying the rules. It's impossible especially in out area with only two enforcement officers. Lire davantage

No. Keep the distance-- hunters can walk if they are truly hunting but this allows them to bait closer to roads and people. Shorten or abandon the spring hunt and look closely at the length of the extended fall season. Bears are essential to wilderness. Not sure lazy hunters are
