Minister Clark and Premier Ford, Keep your promises. Once an area is designated as protected, it should remain protected. The Greenbelt gained its protected status to make it off limits for this exact reason. Lire davantage

Saving the Greenbelt protects so many aspects of the future of Ontario. Clean fresh water and healthy air, in very trying times for both, should be enough to squash this terrible idea. Use land the government already controls that lies stagnant to create space. Lire davantage

It is reckless and irresponsible for the government to expand Hamilton urban boundaries into protected green spaces and farms for development. Houses built in these areas are not going yo solve our main problem which is affordable housing. Lire davantage

I am wholeheartedly against this proposal to trade in protected areas of the greenbelt in Pickering, Ajax, and Clarington, to build more homes. This is exactly what a protected greenspace is protected FOR!!!! Lire davantage

Ontario's greenbelt is essential to its ecosystem - our planet is on the brink of environmental collapse, is Ford seriously considering adding more development to this devastation? Why not redevelop every half-occupied Smart Centre allowed to pollute our province instead?

We don't need to develop more land, have more cars on the road, burn more gas, or more highways. We can increase our density in land that's already been zoned for development and leave crucial environmental and agricultural land as is. Lire davantage

Promises, Promises. The only changes this "government" should be making to the greenbelt should be to expand it and add protections so future governments can't trample over it either. Lire davantage

Doug Ford promised not to touch the greenbelt but he lied. Areas that are unusable for housing will be added to the greenbelt in exchange for our precious forests and fertile lands. This government is for profit only and does not care about the environment or people. Lire davantage

The green belt is an incredibly important part of Ontario that should not be developped ever, let alone in this irresponsible manner. Urban densification projects need to be the priority rather than creating more suburbs in cities that make it harder for public transportation to be utilized. Lire davantage

This is not the way. We need more housing, but not at the expense of nature. One of the things that makes Ontario a great place to live is the green space in and around our great cities. Might as well live down in America where they put commerce first and nature last. Lire davantage

I'm a Biology graduate from McMaster university so my stance in extremely clear. Do Not cut into the Greenbelt for housing. Taking from the Greenbelt is the cheap and dirty solution to creating more homes. If there really is a need for more space we need to build up and down not horizontally. Lire davantage

The Greenbelt is protected land, and even the Whitebelt is completely irresponsible to develop during a climate crisis. We cannot afford to lose prime topsoil, precious wetlands, and agricultural land when we have so much room for mid-density development within the existing urban boundary. Lire davantage

I am very much opposed to opening up parcels of the greenbelt for development. Rather than encouraging greater urban sprawl, this government should instead be focused on densification. Lire davantage

This is much-desired news. However, the type of development in these areas is also important. Maintaining a higher ratio of Condominuim-type dwellings which are more affordable will allow us to maximize the land that we take away from Greenbelt. Lire davantage
