This will be an unmitigated disaster and cannot be allowed to happen. Our greenbelt is precious and contains some of the most important and sensitive ecological systems in the province. Please reconsider paving over it for more single dwelling homes. I oppose this to the highest degree.
It’s just not acceptable to have Durham torn up all at once for housing…. The massive Seaton development now 15 acres of green belt? I am not in favor of the dev speed and this choice and will vote accordingly
You said in your campaign “Unequivocally, we won’t touch the Greenbelt” while you were having backroom meetings with your developer donors.

The Duffins Rouge Agricultural Preserve (DRAP). part of the Greenbelt (established in 2005) is protected under the Central Pickering Development Plan (CDPD) "in perpetuity" for agricultural and preservation uses. This protection was reaffirmed by The Superior Court in 2007.

I am appalled that the provincial government is going to violate the Green Belt. This contradicts the Premier's pledge to not touch it, and violates the voter's trust in his word. It also promotes the wrong kind of housing growth.

When the land was originally protected as Greenbelt, it was with just this situation in mind: someone wanted to develop it, but it is land that should be protected and not developed. And that hasn't changed.

I do not support developing in the green belt and the concerning precedent that it sets. As a resident of Toronto and an individual who struggles as a result of the housing shortage, I understand our need for more housing. I strongly disagree in expanding development into the greenbelt.

The citizens of Hamilton, Ontario directed their city council to vote against expanding the urban boundary. Council respected the citizens choice and voted against expansion. The province needs to respect the decisions that had been made at the most local level.
The Greenbelt is essential to Ontario's ecosystems. I absolutely oppose any plan that puts more importance on fast development over the protection of our environment.
This land is meant to be protected from development. Shifting protected lands further out continues sprawl, meaning longer travel times, more congestion, and greater pressure on remaining greenbelt lands.

In light of Ford's proposal, it's apparent his constituents are developers and not the people of Ontario.
I am outraged that developers were allowed to purchase these Greenbelt lands in the first place. How was it even legal to buy protected land?

The greenbelt space is important to ecosystems and wildlife, and there are other spaces to build housing development elsewhere, rather than take away the lush life of the wildlife around these areas. This bill will harm the enviroment and people in the end.
