These MZOs represent a profound override of local democracy despite Oakville’s full compliance with provincial policies and proven track record of growth and housing development. Lire davantage

These MZOs would force extreme and reckless density on Midtown, more than double that of any comparable development in the GTA, without the infrastructure to support it; creating chaos and overwhelming transportation and services that are already overstressed, including local roads, transit, the GO Lire davantage

These MZOs impose excessive density on Midtown, far beyond comparable GTA developments, without the infrastructure to support it. Roads, transit, the GO station, and the QEW are already at capacity, and these proposals would worsen congestion and strain services. Lire davantage

Midtown area is all ready at capacity and the increased density is not feasible. It may look good in plans etc but certainly not livable and too congested. Living here since 1973 and experiencing all the changes….it doesn’t look like a good project! Thank you. Lire davantage

Oakville Midtown project would be the highest density in Canada. It’s the equivalent of dropping the city of Collingwood and surrounding area into a very small parcel of land. Lire davantage

The proposed Minister’s Zoning Orders (MZOs) for Midtown Oakville plainly fail to satisfy the Ontario government’s own stated criteria for their use. There is no municipal support: Town Council has not endorsed the project, and community opposition is both clear and well documented. Lire davantage

I do not support this proposal and the manner in which it appears to be imposed on the town of Oakville. The MZOs have been used to override municipal zoning, and some parts of the project do not even include the provision of water and wastewater to the proposed sites. Lire davantage

The economic and viability case for these MZOs and this project has collapsed. The condominium market has both collapsed and shifted, with the market no longer supporting high rise projects dominated by studios and one-bedroom units, which is the configuration this TOC proposes. Lire davantage

I thought we lived in a democratic province where the people were listened to. I can't believe the ministers involved have ignored the democratically elected members of The Town of Oakville and decided to impose their will (and those of their friends - the developers) on the people of Oakville. The proposed Minister’s Zoning Orders (MZOs) for Midtown Oakville fail to respect the community’s fundamental right to participate in decisions that shape its future. Lire davantage

There is no need for this MOZ when the Town of Oakville has a perfectly viable plan for development all ready approved and ready to go. Lire davantage

This Transit-Oriented Community (TOC) fails to comply with Premier Ford’s Build Homes Faster agenda and will not deliver a single home before 2031, the Province’s own housing deadline, and will take 25 years to complete. OPA70 is a better alternative and is ready to go. Lire davantage

The Town’s OPA 70 already permits densities up to 6.0 FSI, which is already high by any North American standard, making the absurd proposed densities neither necessary nor acceptable. Lire davantage

As a resident of Oakville for 54 years, I have watched this beautiful town grow even more beautiful, diverse, and vibrant. While I understand that all Canadian communities must share the task of welcoming new members of a growing population, this growth must be gradual and sustainable. Lire davantage
