I am registering my displeasure about this Act. This undemocratic Act means a Minister can create special economic zones and projects for any reason . The project may have no valid reason to be created, it can be created just because someone who is a proponent of the government wants something done. There doesn't need to be any criteria for the zone to be created. And no guardrails or checks and balances on these zones . And according to the proposal for the Bill, these zones are also exempt from any law whatsoever. This gives a blank slate to the government . With no legislative oversight you are contravening many of the laws in Canada. This Bill states that there can be no challenge in the courts on Bill 5.

The Legislature is designed to hold the government accountable. Bill 5 enables the Ontario government authoritarian overreach, and challenges our democratic system.
