This correspondence is to register concerns regarding the application to designate Special Economic Zones Act, 2025.

This proposal is totally overriding any local or municipal input into decisions that directly impact them. The threat of tariffs is being used to take away our local voices and this is not how a democracy works.
The idea of using 'trusted proponents' and 'vetted projects' without any oversight than the Ontario government leaves a lot of room for special deals, money for access etc in the eyes of local taxpayers. Recent development decisions made by this current government are currently under scrutiny.
