While I support efforts to make housing easier and faster to build, I am very concerned that Bill 17 will make it harder for municipalities to make wise planning decisions, particularly with thoughtful and measured green development standards.

Green development standards need not slow down the building of new housing. Developers need clear, predictable rules to plan and build new housing, and green development standards can and do provide that.

I would strongly urge the ministry to allow municipalities to have their own green development standards and bylaws.
