The current Council of Wasaga Beach has been actively intimidating and criticizing any one who does not agree with its policies. It has taken on the role of saving tourism at the cost of not improving the town for its full time residents. Most residents do not want to see a “ Miami” north here. Selling any portion of the actual beach will result in private ownership and reduced tourism due to cost of parking and access. We are 4 month tourist town and will remain such due to the weather conditions. However, as a full time resident there will be no benefit to have any major building on the beaches that would be of direct benefit to the town itself. We have experienced, so far, in the three years this council has been in power an approximate 25% increase in taxes and a shutting down of any possible transparency that existed. The council appears to want to bankrupt the town for its own purposes and create an exclusive (read rich) part time community for the benefit of developers and council friends. What we have now is an open and welcoming beach so tourists can enjoy the water without any costs other than parking. This will all change is this change to the Park is allowed to happen.
