The protection of the sensitive dune habitat, home of the endangered piping plover, is crucial and is best in the hands of Ontario Parks. This is because they have the best means and expertise of monitoring these environments, and this also allows more effective coordination between the parks on managing these species of concern. Furthermore, Ontario Parks delivers effective education to the public on how we must look after these habitats and species, our relatives through their interpretive programing and online communications, which is especially crucial at a busy park such as Wasaga beach. Without Ontario Parks over seeing Wasaga Beach's protection and stewardship, the habitat may be more vulnerable to the public. As someone with first hand experience working with Piping Plover habitat at another busy park, Darlington Provincial Park, and working with the Piping Plover team, I am deeply aware of the important role that Ontario Parks plays in protecting and conserving these habitats. If these habitats are taken away from this protection, what we may pass down to our future generations is no longer a healthy planet and shoreline to be enjoyed for its natural beauty and ecological health (a key factor of humanity's health) but rather a further eroded future reeking of the stench of a government's failed foresight. Let's make the right decision here. Thank you for your time.
