To Whom It May Concern,

I am writing to express my strong opposition to the proposed sale of approximately 60% of the beachfront lands at Wasaga Beach Provincial Park and to any amendments that would weaken the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act (PPCRA).

Wasaga Beach is not only one of Ontario’s most beloved and visited parks—it is also home to critical and sensitive ecosystems, including habitat for the endangered piping plover, mature sand dunes that protect against climate impacts, and provincially significant wetlands. These lands are protected for a reason: they belong to the people of Ontario and are meant to be preserved for future generations, not sold off for short-term development gains.

Equally troubling is the government’s proposal to amend the PPCRA in ways that appear designed to bypass the democratic safeguards currently in place. The Act rightly requires legislative approval for significant changes to park boundaries. Undermining this process would set a dangerous precedent, weakening protections not just for Wasaga Beach, but for all of Ontario’s parks and conservation reserves.

I urge you to halt the proposed land disposition and to maintain the integrity of the PPCRA. Ontario’s natural heritage is not for sale.

Thank you for your consideration.
