I am opposed to the proposal…

I am opposed to the proposal to remove Nancy Island and other parts of Wasaga Beach from the PPCRA and their transfer to MTCG control. I also oppose the sale of crown lands.
Provincial parks belong to all of us in the province, and allowing privatization of these areas is stealing from every Ontarian and Canadians as a whole. Time and again, we have seen this government sell off our province piece by piece all in the name of short-sighted profit with the claims it will "balance our budget" or "boost the economy". But our natural areas are priceless, and must be preserved in these times where we are losing more and more of them to climate change, wildfires, and industry.
The proposal repeatedly states that natural and cultural heritage will be protected... but how will this be done? Private ownership and tourism ministries are not first tasked with preserving environmental health. In fact, they have no incentive to do so at all. Their biggest mandate is to generate profits, either for the government or for private entities. Once an ecosystem is destroyed, it cannot be gotten back again. Nancy Island and the surrounding areas should remain under the control of the MECP, for whom conservation is a priority. They are best capable of protecting these areas and making sure their natural and cultural heritage is not harmed.
Further, Indigenous peoples have been tasked as the guardians of this land since time immemorial. Any proposed changes should not be made without their consultation and permission.
I am proud to live in Ontario, a place with many beautiful natural wonders. I believe these should be preserved for generations to come, so they too can experience what I have. If we allow rampant commercialization of these areas in order to attract tourists, the very thing that people are coming to see will be destroyed. I am against the sale of my province to groups that do not have its best interest at heart.
