Wasaga Beach Provincial Park…

Commentaire

Wasaga Beach Provincial Park was established, in cooperation with the Town of Wasaga Beach, to protect the unique ecosystems, biodiversity and significant natural and cultural heritage of Wasaga Beach. That purpose is more important than ever. The proposed legislative amendments are completely contrary to the whole purpose of the Park and should not be adopted. Wasaga Beach Provincial Park protects wildlife habitat for many species at risk, including the endangered Piping Plover. With the government's recent decimation of the Endangered Species Act, the protection afforded by the Park is critical to the existence of these species at risk.
All the Beachfront lands in Wasaga Beach Provincial Park, including Beach Area 1, Beach Area 2, New Wasaga and Allen Wood Beach, should remain as part of the Provincial Park and no land that is currently part of the Provincial Park should be sold or transferred to another owner even if it is the Town of Wasaga Beach.
These lands belong to all Ontarians by preserving our natural heritage.
The proposed changes to Ontario's Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act to remove land should not be adopted. This government has acted in bad faith with respect to its responsibility to protect and reserve public spaces, lands and natural habitats. It has demonstrated a propensity for delivering what is not theirs to private interests. Crown Lands, Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves belong to all Ontarians and the legislation that protects those spaces from being sold off should remain in place.

Thank you
From a born and bred Ontarian
