I do not support this…

I do not support this proposed transfer of land. The beauty and attraction of Wasaga Beach lies in its existence as a provincial park - people come for the beaches and nature. The suggestion that the transfer will "support the Town of Wasaga Beach's objectives to increase tourism and attract investment" implies that there is an overall strategic plan on the town's part to accomplish these things. It is evident there is no such thing. Rather than transferring parks to the town, ultimately for development, the redevelopment of the main drag could have been designed as a year round tourism destination with attractions, not just condos and a hotel. The above mentioned objectives of the proposed land transfer could have already been met - this was a missed opportunity due to poor planning and now invaluable natural assets that cannot be replaced are going to be sacrificed. The provincial government needs to protect our park lands and safeguard them, not give them to ineffective municipal leadership who have no interest in safeguarding our natural spaces. This also sets a dangerous precedent for future transfer of land - jeopardizing greenspace all over Ontario.
