I respectfully oppose the proposed amendments to the Provincial Parks and Conservation Reserves Act and the Historical Parks Act, as outlined in ERO 025-0694. The proposed transfer of Nancy Island from Wasaga Beach Provincial Park to the Historical Parks Act, along with the removal and intended sale of significant portions of Beach Areas 1, 2, New Wasaga, and Allenwood Beach, pose serious threats to both Wasaga Beach’s natural environment and its cultural heritage. While the stated goal is to boost tourism and stimulate economic growth, these changes risk undermining ecological integrity and could irrevocably alter a beloved provincial park. It is vital that any revitalization efforts be balanced with long-term environmental stewardship and heritage protection—not expedited through legislative shifts that may sacrifice the very character that draws residents and visitors alike. As stewards of public land, the government should prioritize conservation and sustainable tourism principles over short-term development gains.
