I do not support this proposal.

This proposal is set up to create gaps and allow for land development that will cause long-term harm to the environment. In a time when the affects of climate change are beginning to be felt we need to devote more to land conservation, flood mapping, and be more careful about how we are developing land, not streamline groups that exist to conserve the environment.

Why consolidate these agencies away from the land they are working to conserve? How will it streamline operations by limiting their abilities to effectively monitor their territories? Further, different ecosystems and environments require different approaches uniquely suited to them. Consolidating vast areas under one agency with one policy PURPOSFULLY limits the Conversations Authorities.

Finally, "empower the province to oversee the amalgamated conservation authorities and consult on the proposed boundaries of the new regional authorities" is a blatant conflict of interest. The province has known agenda to decrease environmental regulations and will not act in a way that is scientifically backed and in the best interest of the conservation authorities.

P.S. This is coming from some one with a background in civil engineering and land development. There are ways to support housing and economic growth that do not threaten endangered species, critical waterways, flood prevention, and contribute to worsening climate change. I support an efficient conversation authority system that can support housing and economic growth projects, but a drastic merge of this scale will likely only slow and muddle the system more.
