The proposed new regional Conservation Authorities have geographic areas of responsibility that are too large to monitor effectively. It will be too difficult for these CAs to deliver on their mandates of maintaining watershed health, especially if they are expected to operate under the same budget as our current CA organizations. Ontario needs to prioritize the maintenance of its fresh water as a strategic resource -- this change is a step backwards.
