Consolidating smaller groups into larger agencies sounds efficient but doesn't work the same when the small well defined groups have intimate knowledge of their areas of operation that won't suit other areas. Reducing the number of conservation authorities will cause more harm to this province's environmental spaces, it's housing situation, and ultimately it's economy. These authorities don't stop houses from being built they stop dangerous houses from being built on protected land, land typically not suited for long-term living, and when these short-term houses meet their inevitable fate at the hand of our once protected environment, it'll cost even more money from the province to clean up but by then it'll be too late. We all depend on green spaces and there's more than enough land up for development that's not our problem. If we stop regulating and protecting our natural spaces, we're going to lose them all, and reducing the amount of people dedicated to protecting those spaces is the first domino in a terrifying chain. These authorities do important work, please don't interfere.
