I cannot understand how these amalgamations will save time with permitting or money. In my own watershed 100% of all permits were issued within 10 days at Conservation Authority and at the other Conservation Authority all but 1permit were issued within 10 days. When I look at existing funding at my Authorities 2 to 3% is Provincial, around 50% is Municipal levy and approximately 48%is self generated by the Authority through campgrounds, partnership's and fundraising. Municipalities still need to be represented at the decision making level regardless of how the Authorities look in the future. We pay approximately 50% of total funding.
Conservation Authorities should have been given the proper tools, templates or software many years ago if the Province wanted consistent permitting across the Province!
I’m concerned that most CA’s have Trust Funds that could disappear if they feel money doesn’t stay local.
As presented the proposed changes to CA’s is a really bad idea no matter how I look any it.
