First I applaud the efforts to streamline systems - one membership card, one computer system, one board, are all sure to save money. But one giant conservation authority to cover all of southern Ontario and south-western Ontario is just too difficult to manage. There is a huge population of taxpayers who need clean drinking water on a continuous basis. And this need will only increase. There are too many environmental sensitive areas where water resources originate and flow that need to be protected and managed. I also think one huge area across northern Ontario is too vast and not feasible to be managed from a central location. People with eyes and ears need to be on the ground taking care of this precious resource. Lastly do not let anyone pave over our current conservation areas. To do so would be unethical and the politician approving such a move will be remembered in posterity as the cause of great human suffering.
