I support this moratorium…

I support this moratorium and I also support a complete ban on extraction of ground water in Ontario for the purposes of making a profit from what should be a common good. The ground water in Ontario belongs to the people of Ontario and must not be used by corporations purely for the goal of making money from our water. Water is a critical element of subsistence, for all life on Earth and should never be commodified except for medical purposes.

In these environmentally aware times, it is shameful to give away pure Ontario water to be put into plastic bottles, bottles that I see lining roads and pathways in my community. It makes me sick.

So please, impose the moratorium, not just for a few months. Make it permanent. And any water that water bottling corporations are currently taking legally, increase the amount of money they have to pay for the water so that it is no longer a profitable venture. If companies are pumping water in defiance of the moratorium, they should be charged and convicted to the fullest extent of the law. And if the law is weak, make it stronger, that is your job.
