I agree, tighter legislation is needed to prevent the introduction of CWD into Ontario's Cervid population.
My concern is with the movement of high risk parts into Ontario from other jurisdictions and how this is to be monitored and enforced. There are only a limited amount of Conservation Officers in the field and their efforts are consistently hampered by the lack of funding. I live in Northwestern Ontario where many hunters hunt in our western provinces for mainly deer. There is no doubt in my mind many return to Ontario with high risk parts. To effectively curtail this problem, a strong hunter education program is needed along with greater monitoring at our provincial border.
