In light of climate change, I am completely against these proposed changes. It is a proven fact that green and biodiverse areas help to combat climate change in many different ways. For example, the greenbelt itself absorbs a ton of carbon. Lire davantage

Contradicting your pledge to leave the Greenbelt alone is not surprising, but still saddening. Of note, several of the proposed removals mark protected areas that interrupt complete urban sprawl on the east end of the GTA. Lire davantage

The conservative government in Ontario, led by Doug Ford, PROMISED to not open the green belt to construction. This was promised BEFORE the election, and the result of the election could very well have been different if this promise had not been made. KEEP YOUR PROMISE! Lire davantage

Dear Mr. Doug Ford, It is not fair to blame the newcomers to Canada for your policies of environmental destruction and in the same time to fill the pockets of your millionaire developer friends. Lire davantage

The greenbelt needs to be protected. This is valuable land that, once developed, we can never get back. Building housing here will only add to the urban sprawl that we are already suffering under. Smart density is the answer to housing issues. Lire davantage

The 413 is a bad idea. The government’s own studies have shown that this will only marginally improve traffic or not at all. The current proposed location of the 413 was determined to be ineffective. Lire davantage

With how bad our climate is, you would think that protecting areas like the Greenbelt would be a good idea. The Greenbelt is a permanently protected area of green space, farmland, forests, wetlands, and watersheds. Like really?!? Lire davantage

I am not in support of the replacement of greenbelt lands. Living close to the tract that will be exiting the Greenbelt in Pickering, I am strongly opposed to the scale of what is proposed in Pickering. Lire davantage

This is the wrong thing to do. Once we build over these green spaces it will be hard to restore it to what it once was. Ontario's Greenbelt is one of the marvels of the world. We have no maximized building spaces in the GTA. Who does this benefit? Why are we doing something like this? Lire davantage

I object. Severe flooding is an inevitable outcome of this proposal. It stands a great risk to infrastructure, the agricultural industry, food security, as well as health and safety. The ecosystem will suffer in irreconcilable ways. Lire davantage

I am very concerned about the poor precedent set by allowing development of lands on the green belt and compensating by calling river areas already protected as new greenbelt. Concerns: Lire davantage

I don't support this at all. Real estate is expyon the city, very few people could afford it. So who would benefit once the greenbelt is developed? Not Ontarians for sure since people can't afford to buy property anymore. Legislate air bnbs and real estate speculators and foreign buyers. Lire davantage

I submit this comment as a law student, an environmental advocate, and a concerned citizen. The Greenbelt Act governs the preservation of the Greenbelt. I would like to highlight some key purposes of the Act: Lire davantage

I want the green belt to remain as is. The green belt is for the future residents of ontario; not for greedy developers. There is ample land around the GTA. Rezone. Densify. Do not develop the greenbelt. Lire davantage

Doug Ford was elected on a promise to not touch the Greenbelt. For the sake of future generations, do not make any changes to the current Geenbelt. In fact, it is my belief that more conservation areas and forested land should come under protection of the government. Lire davantage

While I understand it is tempting to target the greenbelt around already developed cities, why can we not use this as an opportunity to grow the northern portions of the province. Lire davantage
