This proposed bill is not evidence based and is clearly contrived. It has been demonstrated repeatedly that bike infrastructure reduces congestion (see London, Paris, Montreal, Amsterdam, Copenhagen, etc.). The solution to gridlock is less cars on the road through safe and affordable alternatives. Lire davantage

As a Toronto resident of M4E2J3, it's astounding how a piece of legislation could be so utterly backwards. Bike lanes are an essential part of the traffic system. Lire davantage

I have been a cyclist all my life, both in the rural community where I grew up, in Toronto where I attended college, and in the town I now live in Waterloo region. For many years, I was even a 4 season cyclist. Lire davantage

Cities are not made for commuting one’s car through. Cities are vibrant places to live, conduct business, go to school, and form community. Bike lanes have proven time and time again they increase business to stores on their routes. Lire davantage

This isn't Europe. The bikes lanes on arterial roads created havoc in my area, and business lost money. The councilor and mayor don't want to listen to residents so thankfully the Ontario govt is taking action.

My wife and I commute daily to work via bike from East Toronto to West Toronto, saving congestion andong term health costs for the province. Reducing bike lanes will increase congestion and increase health costs long term, as well as making it less safe for Ontarians. Lire davantage

This is the worst idea Ive heard of. Bike lanes ease traffic congestion and encourage people to engage in something other than having a miserable time sitting in a car. They also help keep people safe and take stress away from both cyclists and motorists Please dont go through with this bill

This is a gross overreach from Doug Ford. The city knows best what it needs. No bike lanes means bikes will go into the road, increasing traffic and traffic related deaths.

This is the wrong way to go, any urbanist worth his salt would be ashamed to work on this, induced demand will not help with gridlock!

This act unnecessarily increases bureaucracy and removes municipal and local decision making. It also will make roads more congested and less safe.

There is no evidence that this will have the intended effect, let alone risking the safety of vulnerable road users. Wasting tax payers money to get more rural votes is despicable

This proposal to prioritize car lanes over bike lanes is not grounded in any evidence or research, only polling by the PC Party. Lire davantage

The province should not interfere in municipal matters. If the people who live in the city want to change the infrastructure they can vote for the city councillors that best reflect their viewpoint. This includes the premier and members of his cabinet.

I personally think Bill 212 is a ridiculous idea and a total overreach by the Provincial government and that these decision should be made by local municipalities. Lire davantage

The only solution for gridlock is extensive, frequent, well running public transit. Traffic expands to fill the amount of roadway available. People will not leave their cars if they have to wait in summer heat or winter cold unless they can get transit within 10 minutes. Lire davantage
