I'm a driver in this city and totally opposed to this plan. The only way to reduce congestion is enabling other modes of transport. I choose to use the bike lanes almost every day, it's a far more efficient way of getting around the city than my car. Lire davantage

This bill undermines effective urban planning and road safety. Bike lanes play a critical role in reducing traffic congestion by keeping cyclists separated from motor vehicle lanes, which improves traffic flow and road safety for everyone. Lire davantage

I don't see why the Ontario government needs to regulate bike lanes. A city knows its own needs, and the city government will decide the best way forward for road planning.

This proposal is the work of self interested politicians, not a plan to improve life in our city. Lire davantage

This would be disastrous for the city of Toronto. Please don't do this.

I am strongly opposed to Bill 212 (ERO #019-9266). As our cities grow we need more sustainable ways of transportation and bike lanes should be a significant part of that. Lire davantage

As a commuter to Toronto from Mississauga, and an individual who is concerned about climate change and the impacts it will and is already causing, this bill to ban bike lanes, and even remove some from arterial streets in the city is appalling. Lire davantage

This proposal puts cyclists, drivers and pedestrians at great risk of injury/death and liability. I bike almost everyday, including in the winter, with my family (3 small kids) as does my partner. I know at least 5 families that do the same. Lire davantage

Please do not ruin Canada's future. I love bikes and so do all my friends. I am in my 20s and I do not see myself driving car. I simply cannot afford one. My bike gets me from one place to another. However, I do only bike when bike lanes are available. Lire davantage

Disappointed in this bill. We need more bike lanes not less… if you build more bike lanes it will encourage more people to bike/take ttc and less people to drive. I hope our leaders will recognize the short sightedness and negative climate impact of promoting more cars on the road. Lire davantage

The autonomy of municipalities in deciding when and how to introduce bike lanes is crucial for fostering safer, more efficient urban environments. Seeking approval from provincial authorities will delay the implementation of these life-saving measures, wasting valuable resources and time. Lire davantage

This proposal is not based in any factual evidence that bike lanes worsen congestion (in fact the opposite is true, and this corrupt Ford government knows that). Lire davantage

I am concerned that this legislation proposes to remove or waive environmental protections for the construction of a new highway. This highway is proposed to be built through farmland that feeds Ontario. We need to protect the safety of our food sources. Lire davantage

This policy is based on carefully cherry-picked data from half a decade ago that does not represent actual research findings that show exactly the opposite of what it claims, and the personal whims of a premier who doesn't like seeing people travelling faster than him when he is driven to Queen's Pa Lire davantage

Doug Ford and his supporters only consider car traffic, which is not only bad for the environment but also classist. They fail to recognize the importance of safe bike lanes for the many people in the GTA who depend on bikes for travel. Even OUR MAYOR, OLIVIA CHOW, is not on Ford's side. Ms. Lire davantage

The stated, abstract objective of this Act is to reduce “gridlock,” using means which are proven to be detrimental to public health and safety, mobility and access to Ontario communities for all people, environmental protection, and will aid in worsening the ongoing climate emergency. Please don't do this. This is a terrible idea. All this will lead to more cars on the road. More traffic. I honestly don't understand who this is for. It doesn't help local residents or citizens commuting through these corridors on their bikes and their cars. Lire davantage

I live on Summerhill Gdns, one of the streets that is only accessible from Yonge Street. For most of each week there is gridlock on the section of Yonge between Crescent Road and St Clair. Lire davantage
