This proposal will make traffic worse by encouraging more people to drive. It will make roads less safe! Lire davantage

This is extremely undemocratic for a province to decide if a city gets a bike lane or not. We elected a mayor for this reason and it isa complete infringement on our rights to be governed by people we vote for and not a superseding upper government.

The bike lanes on Bloor have saved me so many times. I do not feel safe biking on Spadina and would argue that my presence sans bike lane actually increases gridlock as cars squeeze into the middle /left lane to go around me. Lire davantage

I've been a PC voter for every election and I'm also a cyclist. Two reasons I've started cycling to work, 1) improved health benefits and 2) safer bike infrastructure on major streets. Removing these bike lanes will do no favour for cyclists or motorists. Lire davantage

I commute to work on bike via Bloor Street daily. The removal of any section of the Bloor bike lanes would be detrimental to my ability to safely transit within the city. Lire davantage

It’s hard to imagine a bigger waste of provincial resources than this proposal. If the city consults with the people who live and work in that community and they agree that there should be a bike lane, why would the province ever need to step in? To defend whose interests? Lire davantage

Bike lanes reduce traffic. Look at the current data on bike lanes. Look at other countries. Adding more space for cars has NEVER reduced traffic. Open your eyes and look at the data. Bike lanes, transit, taxing cars, get people out of cars and actually moving through cities. Lire davantage

“You’re nervous when there’s no bike lanes. At least I was. We have to do everything we can to make sure there’s never a death in the city. One death is way too many when it comes to bicycle riders.” - Doug Ford (2017) Lire davantage

In regards to Bill 212 and the ERO number 019-9266: Bike lanes are good for business. They’re good for the environment. They’re good for public and personal health. They give us freedom and mobility. Bike lanes save lives. Lire davantage

Almost every empirical study shows that bike lanes reduce congestion and ease traffic, to remove them would only make the city more congested.

This proposed removal of busy bike lanes will make congestion worse, rather than improving it. The data is very clear on this. Lire davantage

This is a terrible idea, let's go back in time and favour vehicular traffic over all else. This will put cyclists, who put very little strain on infrastructure into unsafe conditions yet again. This city needs to move into the 21 century along with everyone else. Lire davantage

As a driver, I support keeping the current bike lanes on Bloor Street, Yonge Street, and University Avenue. It keeps the cyclists safe, but more importantly it keeps me and my car safe.

I see logic has no place in Ford or the Minister of Transportation's decision making process. Hoping there's MPPs out there willing to think for themselves and go outside their party lines to stand up for Ontarians on this issue. Vote NO to Bill 212! Lire davantage

I am a motorist who drive regularly on the streets identified for bike lane removal. This is a bad idea. As noted by the Annex BIA and in the research evidence on the subject, bike lanes contribute to economic development and have no or a negligible impact on commute times for motorists. Lire davantage

Provincial interference in municipal decision-making about matters like bicycle lanes is obnoxious! What next, provincial oversight of dogcatchers?

Dear Katerina, I’m writing to you because I strongly oppose the proposal for Bill 212 (ERO number 019-9266). Bike lanes saves lives. They also are kind to our climate, boost small businesses, and help traffic flow better. Lire davantage

This has to be one of the Ford government's dumbest, most backward, counterfactual actions in a government that has had an unusually high number of such actions.

This proposal will severely impact the way I get around the city safely. I have to bike on those streets to get to work and removing them will force me to do so in a way that is unsafe. Vehicles get so close to me when I'm biking with no care. Lire davantage
