At a time when biodiversity is declining globally and habitat protections are the last line of defence, loosening restrictions for conservation to push through development is incredibly short-sighted and self-serving. Lire davantage

I vehemently oppose changes to this act! There is no rationale as to why changes need to be made. It will lead to the extinction of species we will never see again. That is not how this province wants to move in the future. Lire davantage

This bill is dangerous. Repealing the ESA and replacing it with a deregulated framework threatens Ontario’s biodiversity and disrespects Indigenous land rights. Protect ecosystems, not developers. Scrap the bill entirely.

I am very concerned that this bill will result in significant and permanent loss of species so that buildings and/or highways can be built on fragile lands. Lire davantage

Fast-tracking development at the loss of critical habitat and the sustainability of our environment is a terrible idea. The habitat that is protected by the current systems is also important for protect our current infrastructure. Lire davantage

“Unnecessary delays and costs” are not worth the risk to our endangered species. That’s why they’re considered at risk. Do better.

The proposed new Species Conservation Act is GARBAGE. Only providing protection for the “dwelling places” or nests of birds or other wildlife? Habitat conservation achieved ONLY through voluntary measures or federal government intervention. C'mon, Ontario - you gotta do better than that! Lire davantage

Doug Ford’s “Protect Ontario” bill is like calling arson a home renovation. He’s gutting the Endangered Species Act so his developer cronies can pave ecosystems without even checking if anything lives there — then call it growth. Lire davantage

Your bill is going to destroy ecosystems. Without consultation with experts, you are giving developers the green light to bypass environmental safeguards just to get something done ASAP - damn the consequences. Lire davantage

The environmental layers and hoops you have to navigate to build or change anything in some areas is out of control. We have a cottage in Long Point, Ontario and we have to deal with multiple organizations and get multiple permits just to build or change something on our property. Lire davantage

Bill 5 must be withdrawn. As it is, Ignace Ontario has been bought by the Ontario Nuclear Industry who will be installing nuclear waste burial in the midst of our pristine lakes and forests. Nothing left for our grandchildren. No animals, no clean water, and dead trees. Lire davantage
