I understand the desire for the Province to push for development and infrastructure projects. I support protecting Ontario and working together to build a stronger province. What I don't understand is why this has to be at the expense of an entire industry.

This bill jeopardizes an entire industry. The Cultural Heritage field will be destroyed and history will be lost due to the waiving of archaeological assessments. This will result in a loss of thousands of jobs across Ontario. This Bill should not pass.
I find this Bill very concerning. What happens when the appropriate archaeological or burial investigations are not conducted for a specific project and then during construction they disturb or completely destroy either an archaeological site or a unknown burial? Who then is to blame?

I am writing an opposition to the passing of this bill. I ask the province to reconsider this proposal, as there is a more constructive and proactive approach that can be taken that will not harm the archaeology in Ontario.
This shameful omnibus Bill 5 undermines the democratic process including bypassing the legislature and the judicial system in Ontario and is a disaster for the environment. It is deliberately complex to confuse the general public and violates our fundamental rights.
