Dodging legal obligations in the name of efficiency is plain wrong. Short term gain will cause irreparable harm no matter what angle you look at it from. The environment destroyed, species lost forever, cultural heritage lost. The laws were made for a reason. Read more

This Bill is deeply irresponsible and disappointing. It is a lie to the People of Ontario. To say it is protecting Ontario is false, and makes Ontario a purely profit driven place where every aspect of it is to be sold. Read more

I’m writing to express great concerns with Bill 5. For 12 years I worked as a CRM archaeologist. Preserving the cultural heritage of Indigenous Communities is important. Once the archaeology is gone, it’s gone forever. Read more

I oppose Bill C-5. I oppose overriding the law in special economic zones. I am a deeply concerned citizen worried about Bill 5. This bill would lead to unemployment in Environment Assessment and Cultural Resource Management (CRM) archaeology. Read more

This bill does not protect Ontario. Instead, it puts our lives in grave danger. Special economic zones could be placed anywhere and no current legislation would be valid. Anything could be built without examination of the consequenced and no oversight would be provided. Read more

As an employee of ASI heritage I oppose this bill and any future bill that does not protect our environment and any nations culture, or would take away jobs from archaeology and studies. Disgusting bill.

I understand the desire for the Province to push for development and infrastructure projects. I support protecting Ontario and working together to build a stronger province. What I don't understand is why this has to be at the expense of an entire industry. Read more

This bill jeopardizes an entire industry. The Cultural Heritage field will be destroyed and history will be lost due to the waiving of archaeological assessments. This will result in a loss of thousands of jobs across Ontario. This Bill should not pass.

I find this Bill very concerning. What happens when the appropriate archaeological or burial investigations are not conducted for a specific project and then during construction they disturb or completely destroy either an archaeological site or a unknown burial? Who then is to blame? Read more

I am writing an opposition to the passing of this bill. I ask the province to reconsider this proposal, as there is a more constructive and proactive approach that can be taken that will not harm the archaeology in Ontario.
