Since becoming involved with local issues regarding aggregate and water, I am compelled to comment on this ERO. 50,000 litres of water can sustain an average family of four just over six months. One family! One major aggregate producer is permitted a maximum rate of 5,910 liters per min! Read more

At a time when water resources should be protected the Ford government is giving a green light to bottled water companies. As a province we should be discouraging the use of water bottles. Many have safe sources of municipal 💧 . Think of the process. Read more

The Government of Ontario should NOT be making it easier to obtain a permit for water bottling companies to drain our precious groundwater. That water is a special resource to be used wisely. Let them to take water from the Great Lakes, not from the ground. Read more

“The government is proposing to give big water users “greater flexibility and streamline the process to apply for a permit to take water,” allowing them to transfer their water-taking permits from one company to another, without going through a proper permitting or renewal process. Read more

This proposal rewards wrong-doing: Corporations which buy water bottling permits WITHOUT notifying the Ministry are rewarded with exemptions from public comment, Indigenous consultation and consent, and environmental reviews. This is counter-productive. Read more
