I agree with Hamilton Conservation Authority’s submission to the ERO. I am concerned that with the proposed changes, local decision-making will be lost. I support keeping conservation decisions grounded in our community

ERO #025-1257: As a physician and long-standing Hamilton Conservation Authority member we really do not support the proposed changes. It’s very important that local communities are able to address their particular issues, intents and visions for such areas. Bigger is not better. Read more

These amalgamations are too broad and will severely limit regional ability to safely manage flood and water resource issues, leading to rubber stamping of development only. This amalgamation should not happen. Read more

I am so upset with this decision. Our conservation authority do so much here locally. The trails are beautifully maintained, so much educational/childrens programs, and a lot of wildlife initiatives. What does someone 2 hours away know about our local wildlife? Read more

I oppose this bill. Please take note of my objection. As a property owner on a lake my concern is the quality of our water and the current Conservation Authority approach is working for property owners. Read more

As a citizen of Ontario, I urge you not to proceed with the amalgamation of the province's 36 conservation authorities into seven regional authorities, as proposed in ERO #025-1257 and Bill 68. Read more

The proposed new CAs are way too big. It will result in slower review times. Staff will have to manage bigger watersheds so will have less knowledge. With bigger areas, there will be less oversight at the local level resulting in more flooding and hazard areas. Read more

I am open to solutions to reduce administrative overhead but I do not support this decision. The conservation authorities should be focused on the specifics of the environment they are protecting and the community they support. Decisions should not be transferred to more abstract provincial boards.

This is a very bad idea! Please keep your greedy hands away from Conservation areas. These plots of lands are best monitored by local authorities who are familiar with the areas. Land matters! Not only for the people, for the animals, birds, trees, and plant life. Read more

The formation of a provincial council overseeing the conservation authorities worries me because it sounds like it will just be used to rush the approval of building permits that otherwise wouldn’t have been approved by the CA. Read more

I hold the same position as Wayne Gates. People in Toronto should not be making decisions for people in Niagara. Life experience has taught me that amalgamation is generally the beginning of the end. Doug Ford is not on the side of conservation.

Is am writing to do to express my concerns for the plan to move from 36 conservative authorities to 7. The authorities already have a very hard time with enforcement and the environment pays the price. Read more

If this proposal will address flooding issues in neighbourhoods from paving entire front and back yards or construction materials being dumped in ditches with no regard for the wildlife that live there I am in agreement. Read more

The people of Niagara know the needs of Niagara better than those in the Golden Horseshoe. Our climate, weather patterns, soil, flora, fauna and ecosystems are unique. Some of these are found no where else in the province! Read more
