If you stop the use of bait on native trout lakes you will essentially put bait people out of business....the trout fishery is the major fishery in the North during winter months. This is when most of these lakes are accessible through snowmachine. Read more

The way I read this is that if I live in zone 10 and go fishing in another northern zone I wouldn’t be able to trap and use my own baitfish. These areas are very remote and it would be less harmful to use baitfish from the actual body of water being fished

The proposed regulations on baitfish is another form of Government control on the people that possibly elected these officials into office. Another means of justifying their jobs while quashing what little freedoms that we have left. Read more

I have just read the proposal concerning the bait used in Ontario. What I see is a complete lack of notice to those of us who live seasonally in Ontario. I have owned a cabin and paid taxes in Ontario for 49 years. My husband and I are in Ontario at our house throughout the summer. Read more

This is a rediculous proposal, just another excuse to ticket tax paying citizens who cannot prove where they bought their minnows. I buy minnows and I salt the left overs so everything gets used, many times they last much longer then 2 weeks. Read more

I do not in any way agree with someone only being able to harvest bait in the region in which they reside. In increasingly often circumstances bait is not available for purchase in certain areas. To deny my right to harvest my own bait for use is unfair and unjustified. Read more

I believe that bait management is an important topic but i frequently trap my own minnows on lakes I fish outside of my zone. The challenge I have is that i frequently arrive at my fishing locations and camps well before the local bait shops are open. Read more

If you would like to get serious about reducing the risk of spreading invasive species, disease, etc. then I would commit to complete ban on use of live bait in Ontario. Many other jurisdictions either have this ban in effect or are moving in this direction. Read more
