Falconers have played an important role in species conservation. They were an integral part of bringing the endangered Peregrine Falcon back from the brink of extinction. I fully support the proposal to enhance access of wild birds to apprentice falconers. Read more

I support the MNRF proposal to expand the capture of wild raptors for licensed falconers. Due to very high mortality rates for young raptors everywhere, many first year birds are more likey to survive and reach breeding age when taken by licensed falconers and later released. Read more

My father has been an active falconer for as long as I can remember. Therefore from a very early age I saw how dedicated himself and other falconers were to their birds and to conservation. Read more

My father in law is an active falconer and I have experienced firsthand how important his bird is to him. I support this proposal for several reasons. For one, I feel eliminating the draw for common birds of prey will improve fairness. Read more

I support the proposal outlined within ERO# 019-1806. My encounter with falconry began with my dad who is a licensed falconer and a member of the Ontario Hawking club. Through this association I’ve come to see falconry practiced by more women when such outdoor sports are typically dominated by men. Read more

In all of my questions that I have lambasted them with there are a few in particular that have stood with me in the for front. Read more

I am in favour of this change as long as the population of birds is not at risk in anyway and the capture and housing and care for the birds is humane which it seems to be already regulated for that. Read more

J'appuie à 100% la proposition. La capture d'oiseaux de proie pour fins de fauconnerie n'affecte aucunement les populations sauvages et est une activité durable essentielle à la pratique de cette chasse. Read more

This proposal to expand the live capture of wild raptors by licensed falconers is wrong. If anything, the capture of wild raptors should be eliminated! Falconry as a sport utilizing wild birds is no longer viable. Read more

UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity tradition has recognized Falconry. This proposal will support this designation bringing it in line with five other Canadian provinces that permit the limited access of wild raptors by qualified falconers. Read more
